Hello Guys and Girls!
This is 'THE BEAST' you have all been waiting for!
1. Next Thursday (28) there is a Social at Brighton Sailing Club at 8.30pm! Make sure you are there! Bring friends!
2. Before hand there is a meeting for the committee at 7.30 if i get in a few pizza then everyone chip in for them how does that sound?
3. Wednesday Sailing is now going to be run by Pete Grant! We are going to have to start charging £3 a week for this, its only a minimal fee and will help raise money so that we can buy some new wetsuits, BAs and hopefully boats sometime....
4. We do however need someone to run the next four wednesday sailing sessions as myself and Pete will be away if there is anyone (preferably committee) that can do this let me know it will be much appriciated!
5. Unfortunately (not for me i'l be in South Africa hohoho) i will be away from March 6 - March 26 so please contact me before then if there are any burning issues!
6. To raise money for the club there will be a joint fundraiser/social in early April with the Climbing and Poker clubs, Chris Kong is kindly organising that for us, more details nearer the time but the more people we get there the more money we get!
7. Hoodies are also soon to be ordered, again to raise money for the club we are aiming to have these sponsered, so if anyone knows someone that would like to do this (large advertisment on the back of hoody) then please let me know!
12. The trip to Cornwall looks to be taking place on the 9/10/11 of May thank you Liz for organising that! More details will follow soon!
CHeers! .. hope i havn't forgot anything (let me know if i have please!) SEE YOU NEXT THURSDAY!

JANUARY
Hello Sailors!! Here are a few things that have been and will be going on over the past (and coming) few months...
Firstly a massive THANK YOU to Steve for all his efforts as commodore over the past 18months, he sadly stepped down at New Year to concentrate on work.. passing the role on to Jon Lee.
In October a team of eight went to Weymouth to compete in the Student Dinghy Nationals which was an enjoyable weekend! Also in October, Dinghy Level 1 took place at Hove Lagoon which was a success!
Rich went to Melbourne earlier this month to compete in the 29er World Championships.. we look forward to seeing how he did! Congratulations to Peter Grant for passing his Senior Instructor course in December!
We are arranging Yachting Nationals which take place in mid March - contact Tara or Chris Lear by 19/01 if you have yachting experience and are interested in competing!
Dinghy Inlands is taking place in Warwick in late Febuary, we have not been able to find transport for our boats but have managed to borrow at a small fee two laser2s and two (or three if we are quick) Fireflys from their University. Please let me (Jon) know if you are interested in competing!
Wednesday sailing should hopefully be starting again soon, it is currently very much weather dependent but we are looking at mid Febuary.
Lesson wise we are trying to arrange a trip to Cornwall/Devon over Easter half term for a level two course.
Think thats it for now.. |
